What to Consider When Building Your First Office Space

The most common option when it comes to companies looking for an office space is to rent one that is already built. However, sometimes you simply can’t find the right place to suit all your needs and you are faced with the need for an office build-out. Or maybe you have just inherited a piece of land in the perfect area an are tired of renting. No matter the reason, there are some things you need to consider when doing an office build-out.

Add lots of windows

One of the most important things to keep in mind when building the office is that everybody will be spending at least 8 hours a day inside those rooms. Make sure you have enough natural light coming through, to avoid making the space feel too gloomy and overwhelming. An open office, with big windows and lots of light, will be much more appreciated by your employees. Natural light has tremendous health benefits and is known to be a natural stress reliever. So, you may want to have a tall granittmur to separate the office space, which is fine, but make sure you also have big windows to go with it.

Think about utility

When building an office, you need to think about utility before anything else. Don’t use materials that are going to be hard to clean, such as carpet on the stairs. Choose granitt trapp instead. They are much easier to clean and they do look more professional for an office building. The same goes for office layout. While it might be interesting to have intricately shaped rooms, they are not practical and may prevent employees from feeling at ease. You need to have clearly delimitated rooms, as big as possible and as straight as possible.

Don’t overdo it

Figuring out how not to overbuild can be quite a challenge sometimes. Think about the utility of every room before deciding on the final layout. How many offices do you need? Will you be needing more than one conference room? How about the lunch room and recreational space? What about parking spots? Do you plan on a big parking lot right next to the building, or an underground one to save space? If you do plan on building an underground parking space, make sure the building is going to be properly insulated, to prevent issues with the foundation. Using materials such as Isodren drenering will help ensure that the building won’t have any moisture issues.

Don’t forget the outdoors

There is a lot to take care of when it comes to the outside of the building as well. From insulation, to drainage and landscape. To give your employees a chance to relax when they need a break, don’t forget to add ass much green space as you can. A small garden, with some tables and some places to sit will work wonders. Add some trees, plants and as much grass as you can. Nature is an undoubted stress reliever and even as little as 10 minutes outside can work wonders on your employees’ mental health.
